Birch & Bone actually consists of a bone, ball and part of a birch branch. It is one of a small series where I actually used real bones from one of our dinners. Although it is abstract, it has some very figurative elements. The birch could be seen as a body, the maple sphere a head and the bone a ribbon or some type of hair ornament. Stamped into the piece with steel letter stamps is the title and initials and date. This piece is a combination of hand carving and the art of assemblage. The cubes are for a scale reference.
